Week 11

Happy Thursday, members! Here's what's in your baskets this week:

-Roma tomatoes

-Heirloom slicing tomatoes

-Cherry and grape tomatoes

-Bell peppers

-Pimiento and dwarf banana peppers

-Eggplant

-Stir Fry Brassica Greens mix

So.. tomatoes, tomatoes, and more tomatoes! 'Tis the season.

Anyway, I thought you might like some greens to go with all the tomatoes, so I threw together a greens mix that tastes great cooked.

Spicy Kale and Chard Stir-Fry

Ingredients

-1 bunch kale

-1 bunch swiss chard

-1 bunch green onions, thinly sliced

-3 garlic cloves, minced

-1 tbsp olive oil or coconut oil

-1-2 peppers of choice

-1 tbsp hot sesame oil

-1tbsp dark toasted sesme oil

-1 tbsp raw sunflower seeds

-1 tbsp raw pumpkin seeds

-1 tbsp raw sesame seeds

Directions

-In a large frying pan, heat the coconut or olive oil over medium heat. Add the onions, garlic, and peppers and saute for 5 minutes, until golden.

-Add the chard stems and cook for 3-4 minutes. Add the rest of the chard and kale. Cover to let the greens finish wilting for about 5 minutes. Add the sesame oils and stir to coat.

-Add the seeds and continue to saute, uncovered, for about 10 minutes, or until cooked through.

Things have been quiet at the farm, so there's not much to report this week. We do have ears on the first crop of sweet corn, although it weirdly only grew about 4.5-5 ft tall. I honestly wasn't sure what it would do, since we had all that rain for the first half of the season.

I am doing some work to the Misfit Farm website and adding a few things, so keep an eye out for new changes!

Have a great week everyone!
